Eric Moraes is an Artist and Fashion designer from Brazil. He worked in Fashion for ten years and started his artistic career painting murals 5 years ago. His work has a strong influence of fashion but also about the way he sees the world having ADDH. He tries to translate in fragments the feelings he has in different images. Passion is the right word to connect to Brazil, so it is a part of his work as an artist.
CAPAS OCULTAS is the exhibition that arises from the stay of Eric Moraes at B-Murals Residence.
'Capas Ocultas' arises from Eric Moraes' need to express himself and explain his vision of the world as a person with TDH. The overlapping layers and blurred images represent how the artist faces the world. The pink and blue tones symbolize the balance of dualities in each person, while the layers of different textures and gray colors, which generate out-of-focus images, express his emotions and hazy memorie
Eric Moraes' works incorporate fabric and fashion design, using recycled fabric and carpet tailoring to create a synesthesia of tactile color that represents the visual textures of graffiti. The torn denim symbolizes change and the passage of time, reflecting complexity and humanity. When observing his pieces, one discovers an intimate world, like looking into a home from the window, inviting to know and expose oneself. Each stroke and layer is a step forward in the construction of life.
Artist Statement
I'm not characterized by painting with specific materials, but rather by moving between different techniques and surfaces representing the deep layers of my thinking.
As an artist with ADHD, I use the fact that I don't have a linear movement of thought as a way of connecting different ideas and materials as the guiding thread of my work.
